Xiaomi Redmi 1S - Game Changer in Budget Category.

"Xiaomi" the name that has created buzz in the Indian Smartphone market from almost last 2 months or more. A company that has shaken the established players in the market without any advertisement or Brand awareness. After the huge success of MI3, they have now entered the budget category by launching their budget phone "Redmi 1S". Company has put MI3 sale on hold just to promote this device, and we have seen almost 40000 devices sold out within few seconds.. So hows the phone? It has everything to take the crown "King of Budget Smatphones"? Lets find out..

Design:
Redmi 1S, is a decent looking phone. It certainly not a slim phone. The back panel is replaceable. The phone is made out of plastic, but its not cheap plastic that Xiaomi has used.. It has 4.7 inch screen protected by Asahi Dragontrail Glass. The volume rocker and power button are on the right edge of the phone. The only disappointment is front touch buttons are not backlit. Don't understand the reason behind it..

Hardware and Performance:
Premium hardware at a lowest available cost is the USP of this device. The phone has 1.6 Ghz Quad core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1 GB RAM and Adreno 305 GPU. All this feature in just for Rs.6000. Its really surprising to see the performance of this phone at given budget. Phone is responsive and hardly has any lag. The phone runs of Android 4.3 with MIUI V5 skin on top of it. Sometimes it lags when multi tasking.

Camera:
The device has 8MP back camera with f2.2 aperture and 1.6MP front camera. The primary camera is capable of taking full HD videos. You will not find a better camera than this in any other phone in this budget. In good light function the camera performs well and its HDR mode is superb and helps in clicking images in low light conditions.

Battery:
As far as battery is concern, this phone has 2000mAh battery which last for a day with normal usage. But if you are a heavy user then you might have to carry powerbank at all time.

User Interface:
Even though the phone runs on Android 4.3, you will not complain about it thanks to awesome MIUI skin on top of it. The UI is very customizable. you can change themes for almost every component such as messages, notifications, boot logo etc.. The version is old, however Xiaomi has promised to update version to MIUI V6 by end of the year.

Verdict:
For the price this device is available, this is a must buy phone. This phone features good combination of hardware and software at just Rs.5999. So if you have a budget of Rs.10000, then this should be the phone on top of your list.
But, like MI3, this phone is also hard to get. the first lot of 40000 units sold in just 4.3 sec on Flipkart. So register yourself on Flipkart and try your luck for this device..
