Micromax recently launched their another budget phone under sub brand YU, Yureka. This device is running on highly customized CyanogenMod. This is the first device from Micromax which is running on Cynogen. After a tussle with OnePlus One, Micromax is now sole brand who can sale Cyanogen based phones in India.
At Rs.8,999 we can say this is the most competitively priced phone from Micromax. So lets have a look at the device and see if this device can challenge other devices in budget category.
Specification:
Build and Design:
Micromax Yureka sports 5.5 inch HD IPS display which offers great viewing angles. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. Design wise the phone does not look different than other Micromax devices. The only difference is instead of glossy back cover, Yureka feature moonstone gray cover, which you will see in OnePlus One. However it is nowhere near to the quality on OnePlus one. Volume rocker button is on the left and power button is on the right side. It has 3.5 Mm jack on the top and micro USB charging port at the bottom of the device. You will nowhere find Micromax branding on the device. On the back panel, you will find YU branding. Overall decently built phone in this price bracket.
Performance:
Even though this device falls under budget category, it is loaded with good hardware support. The device runs on Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor which is very well supported by 2GB RAM and Aderno 405 GPU. Thanks to all this, I did not notice any lag while operating phone, clicking snaps, playing high end games. Touch response is also good. The device will really not disappoint you.
The device comes with 16 GB of inbuild memory and has a option to expand it upto 32 GB. So you have ample of space to store your data.
Software:
Though Yureka is loaded with extremely good hardware, the USP of this device is Cyanogen. Micromax Yureka runs on Highly customized Android ROM Cyanogen OS 11. Cyanogen is well known for its ability of customization, enhance performance and many other features. It lets you change your Lock screen, notification panel, status bar, boot animation and many other things. Yureka has theme app which allows you to change each component i.e. wallpaper from one theme, fonts from other theme and so on to create a unique personalized theme for your device. You can wake up phone with double tab or make screen go to sleep with double tap on status bar. In short Cyanogen gives you ample opportunity to customize you device as per your need.
Camera:
Micromax Yu Yureka features 13 MP back camera with Sony Exmor sensor and 5 MP back camera. Pictures clicked from the device is very good in day light. Indoor photo quality is just a decent and you should not expect more from the device for the price you are looking.
It has Cyanogen Camera app which offers real user friendliness while operating camera. It offers various modes to make your Camera experience amazing.
Verdict:
After looking at the specs, It is certainly the best smartphone available under Rs.10000 especially looking at 4G comparability of this device. It is loaded with hardware and Cynogen OS makes it a must buy. Not to ignore the device has poor screen resolution and has average camera capability in low light conditions. But if you want an affordable phablet, you should not ignore this device. In my opinion, if you have limited budget, then this is the phone to buy now.
