Asus Zenfone 5... Better than MOTO G?

The battle of mid range smart phones are getting interesting day by day. Moto G was the undisputed option which was available under Rs.15000. However the competition is getting intense with the launch of XIAOMI MI3 and ASUS zenfone 5. Indian Consumers are getting good feature phones at really competitive price.
We have already talked about the XIAOMI MI 3, now lets see  Asus Zenfone 5. Should you buy this over Moto G? or spend almost Rs.4000 more and buy XIAOMI MI3.

Asus has reentered the Indian market and launched 5 smartphones under Zenfone series. With the price tag of just Rs.10000 for 8GB version, can it Moto G a tough competition?

Specifications:
  • 1.6 Intel Atom Duel core Processor with Hyper-Threading Technology
  • Android 4.3 ,Upgradeable to 4.4
  • Expandable upto 64 GB
  • 2 GB RAM, PowerVR GPU
  • Corning Gorilla Glass 3
  • 5-inch 1280 x 720p resolution, 294ppi
  • 8 MP Pixel Master Camera with Auto Focus

Design:
Asus is known for great build and design, we have seen that in nexus devices. They brought the same in zenfone 5. The phone is mostly build of plastic keeping a premium look and feel. The back has a matte finish which makes it easier to hold. It has 5 inch HD display with decent viewing angles. It has brushed metallic finish at the bottom. On the right side we have power  and volume rocker button. Overall a premium looking design.

Camera:
Zenfone 5 feature 8 MP back camera with LED flash and 2 MP front camera. Asus has introduced Pixelmaster technology in this phone which helps in clicking quality images. The image quality in low light is also good.

Performance:
This is the most important part of any smartphone. Unlike any other smartphones available in the market, this phone is powered by Intel processor and not Qualcomm or Midiatek. zenfone 5 runs on 1.6 Ghz Intel atom dual core processor with Hyper Threading technology, which mean it can act as quad core if needed. The phone is very smooth and you will hardly find any lag in device. The 2 GB RAM help multitasking smoothly. Though the display of this phone is very good, the speaker volume of this phone is big disappointment. The volume is awfully less.

Battery:
The battery of this phone is a concern. It has only 2110 mAh battery which I presume is very less. Asus has included battery saver mode which helps in improving it a bit.

User Interface:
This phone runs on customized android UI "Zen UI". This is one of the best UI that I have seen in recent time. Despite of UI customization this phone doesn't give any lag at all.

Verdict:
If you are looking for a phone around Rs.10000, then this phone should be your first choice. It has everything and little more for a moderate user and that too at economic price.
Compare to MOTO G, it has many positives such as  5 inch display, good camera, SD card support and most importantly less price. But if you can shell out 4000 more, then go for XIAOMI MI3.
